After him reigned his son Dažbog." The gloss thus posits a Svarog-Dažbog father-son relationship. Svarog is the celestial smith and generator of divine fire; his name may derive from PIE *swer- (sky, sun; cf. Sanskrit svarga, heaven) or from *svar- (to gleam).
